2005 Britannia £10 1/10oz Gold Proof

Price

£375.00

The 2005 Britannia £10 Gold Proof forms part of The Royal Mint's celebrated Britannia series, bringing together one of Britain's most enduring national symbols with the craftsmanship of modern British gold coinage. Struck in 22-carat gold to Proof standard, the coin contains one-tenth of a troy ounce of fine gold and was produced specifically for the collector market.

The reverse features Philip Nathan's acclaimed depiction of Britannia seated beside the sea. Positioned on a rocky shore with her robes flowing in the wind, Britannia carries a shield representing the protection of the British Isles and holds her distinctive trident. A laurel branch symbolises peace, while her helmet and trident reflect strength and preparedness. The obverse features the portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley, the fourth definitive effigy of the Queen to appear on British coinage.

With a limited worldwide mintage of just 1,225 coins, the 2005 tenth-ounce Britannia is a notably scarce Proof issue within the series. Combining Philip Nathan's classic Britannia design, a low mintage and The Royal Mint's Proof finish, this example is presented in its original Royal Mint box with Certificate of Authenticity.
