2024 D-Day 80th Anniversary £10 1/10oz Gold Proof

Issued to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings, this 2024 £10 Gold Proof coin pays tribute to one of the defining events of the Second World War. On 6 June 1944, Allied forces landed on the beaches of Normandy in the largest seaborne invasion in history, beginning the liberation of Western Europe and helping pave the way towards the end of the war.

Released by The Royal Mint in collaboration with the Imperial War Museums, the reverse features an evocative design by artist David Lawrence. The scene depicts Allied troops leaving their landing craft and making their way through the water towards the Normandy beaches, capturing the scale and human experience of the historic operation.

The obverse features the official coinage portrait of His Majesty King Charles III. Struck in 24 carat gold to The Royal Mint's Proof standard, this fractional one-tenth-ounce issue has a limited edition presentation of just 500 coins. Combining an important moment in modern history with a highly limited mintage and detailed commemorative design, this example is presented in its original Royal Mint box with numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
