The 2012 Diamond Jubilee Half Sovereign is one of the most historically significant and visually distinctive modern Sovereign releases. Issued to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, this special commemorative coin features a remarkable one year-only reverse design by acclaimed sculptor Paul Day, replacing Benedetto Pistrucci's traditional St George and the Dragon motif.
Paul Day's detailed interpretation of St George and the Dragon was created exclusively for the Diamond Jubilee year and is widely regarded as one of the finest modern Sovereign designs ever produced. The obverse features the portrait of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley, completing a coin that marks a significant moment in British royal history.
Certified by NGC as PF70 Ultra Cameo, the highest grade attainable, this example displays flawless surfaces, deeply mirrored fields and exceptional frosted detail. With an issue limit of just 4,900 pieces worldwide, it remains one of the most sought after modern Half Sovereigns for collectors of British gold coinage.
