1826 Full Sovereign AU55

Price

£0.00

This historic 1826 Gold Sovereign features the bare head portrait of King George IV, engraved by William Wyon from the effigy by Francis Chantrey. The obverse shows the King facing left with the legend GEORGIUS IV DEI GRATIA, while the reverse displays a crowned, ornate shield of the Royal Arms with the inscription BRITANNIARUM REX FID: DEF.

Struck in 22 carat gold, this early milled sovereign represents one of the classic shield-back designs of the 19th century. Graded AU55 by NGC, it retains strong detail with light wear, offering an उत्कृष्ट example of this historic issue. Although over 5.7 million were originally minted, far fewer survive today in this certified condition.

As a British Sovereign, it is legal tender and Capital Gains Tax exempt in the UK.
